Recovery Officer

About the role

The Recovery Officer will join Altara Credit Limited’s collections team in Lagos, handling overdue accounts and ensuring timely repayment in line with regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Contact debtors via phone, SMS, email and field visits to recover overdue payments.
• Educate customers on contractual obligations and negotiate repayment schedules, settlements or restructuring plans.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions, payment commitments and follow‑up actions in the company database.
• Escalate unresolved accounts and support legal recovery processes with required documentation.
• Provide regular feedback and reports on debtor trends, challenges and potential risks while meeting monthly recovery targets.

Required profile

• Minimum OND in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in collections or recovery within a consumer finance, micro‑finance or banking environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and persuasion abilities with a commitment to performance goals.
• Attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to manage time, multitask and prioritize effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of CRM software.
• Ability to operate a working laptop.
