Reconciliation Officer

About the role

The Reconciliation Officer will investigate and verify all bank transactions, ensure accurate financial records, and support auditors and internal controls within the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate all transactions on the bank’s various accounts and provide periodic feedback on exceptions.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation reports for all accounts operated by the bank.
• Assist internal and external auditors with required documentation.
• Reconcile and verify bank balances, lending platform disbursements and repayments.
• Maintain required files, reports and data, and rectify ledger accounts belonging to customers.
• Conduct periodic tests of systems and digital platforms to ensure proper operation.
• Create and monitor internal controls, draft and revise company policies.
• Audit processes, identify weaknesses, and collaborate with external auditors and HR.
• Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices.

Required profile

• Minimum of 8 years proven experience as a compliance/reconciliation officer.
• HND in Law, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Relevant micro‑finance bank certification (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of double‑entry bookkeeping, Excel, data analysis and accounting.
• Experience in risk management and AML compliance.
• Excellent communication, IT and banking software skills.
