Project Procurement Manager

About the role

The Project Procurement Manager leads the end‑to‑end procurement cycle for assigned projects, ensuring materials, equipment and services are sourced on time, to specification and at best commercial value. The role works closely with project, engineering, finance and legal teams to align procurement activities with project schedules and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project‑specific procurement plans, translate requirements into packages and schedules, and monitor activities against the overall programme.
• Identify, evaluate and manage suppliers, conduct competitive sourcing, RFQs/RFPs and maintain a strong vendor base.
• Lead commercial evaluations, benchmark pricing, negotiate terms and seek cost‑saving opportunities.
• Prepare, review and issue purchase orders and contracts, manage variations, extensions and claims.
• Track supplier commitments, expedite critical and long‑lead items, and resolve delivery delays.
• Ensure procured items meet approved specifications and quality standards, coordinating inspections where needed.
• Monitor procurement spend against budgets, forecast expenditures and report potential overruns.
• Provide regular updates to project stakeholders, participate in review meetings and resolve procurement issues.
• Maintain compliance with company procurement policies, documentation standards and ethical sourcing practices.
• Identify and mitigate procurement risks, develop contingency sourcing strategies.
• Maintain accurate procurement trackers and prepare status reports for management.
• Lead and coach project procurement team members, allocating responsibilities based on priorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance or related field; professional certification (CIPS, CPSM) preferred.
• 7–10 years of procurement experience, including project‑based procurement in construction, engineering or capital‑intensive environments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple procurement packages, negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with governance standards.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with procurement or ERP systems.
