Production Supervisor / Head of Production

About the role

The Production Supervisor / Head of Production will lead the bakery’s daily manufacturing operations, ensuring that bread and other products are produced on schedule, meet quality standards, and comply with food‑safety regulations. This role coordinates all stages of production, from raw‑material handling to final dispatch, while managing a team of bakers and assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily, weekly and periodic production activities based on sales forecasts, customer orders and stock levels.
• Prepare production schedules, allocate duties to bakers, assistants and other staff, and adjust plans as demand or resource availability changes.
• Oversee the complete production process: weighing, mixing, dough development, cutting, moulding, proofing, baking, cooling, slicing, packaging and dispatch.
• Monitor product quality, ensuring compliance with approved recipes, specifications and food‑safety standards.
• Collaborate with sales, dispatch, stock and accounts teams to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in bakery or food‑production environments.
• Proven ability to supervise, motivate and train production staff.
• Strong attendance and productivity monitoring skills.
• Capability to conduct shift briefings, identify training needs and address staff issues promptly.
• Commitment to maintaining staffing levels and shift coverage.
