Production Manager – Leather Bag Manufacturing

About the role

The Production Manager will lead the daily manufacturing of leather bags, overseeing the entire process from pattern development to final packaging. This hands‑on role requires both technical expertise in leatherwork and strong supervisory skills to meet production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise daily production of leather bags.
• Operate a cylinder‑bed industrial sewing machine and draft bag patterns independently.
• Measure, cut, and prepare leather and other materials according to approved patterns.
• Supervise tailors, cutters, sewing machine operators and other production staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
• Inspect finished bags for defects, ensure quality standards, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and improve production methods to increase efficiency and reduce material waste.
• Maintain production records, track material usage, wastage and completed orders.

Required profile

• Minimum OND, technical qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience in leatherwork or bag making.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in leather bag production, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
• Ability to operate a cylinder‑bed industrial sewing machine independently.
• Proven capability to draft bag patterns without relying on pre‑existing templates.
• Strong understanding of leather types, hardware installation and quality‑control procedures.
