Principal, Environment & Sustainability (ESD)

About the role

Are you an experienced Environmental & Social (E&S) professional with a strong background in project appraisal, sustainability, environmental risk management, and international environmental standards? We are seeking a Principal, Environment & Sustainability (ESD) to lead environmental and social due diligence, monitor high‑impact projects, and provide strategic technical expertise across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead environmental and social due diligence for complex, high‑risk projects.
• Assess environmental, social, climate, and sustainability risks and opportunities.
• Review project compliance with international environmental and social standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project and consultant teams.
• Monitor project implementation and prepare technical reports.
• Negotiate environmental and social contractual requirements.
• Represent the organization at stakeholder, client, and project meetings.
• Support policy development, internal process improvements, and sustainability initiatives.
• Mentor junior professionals and contribute to capacity‑building efforts.
• Travel as required to support project activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Social Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience assessing environmental and social risks across diverse sectors.
• Strong knowledge of international sustainability frameworks and standards.
• Experience with environmental and social due diligence, project monitoring, and sustainability reporting.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently while leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
