Pig Farm Manager

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Pig Farm Manager to oversee daily operations of our commercial piggery in Marina, Edo. The role involves managing animal care, feeding, breeding, health monitoring and supervising farm staff to ensure high productivity and animal welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily piggery operations, including feeding, watering, cleaning and general animal care.
• Monitor pig health, growth, breeding and production performance.
• Ensure hygiene, bio‑security and disease‑prevention practices are followed.
• Supervise farm attendants, assign tasks and maintain accurate records of feed usage, health, mortality, breeding and expenses.
• Track feed inventory, farm supplies and equipment, reporting any signs of illness or operational challenges.
• Collaborate with veterinary professionals when needed and prepare regular performance reports for management.
• Ensure compliance with farm procedures, animal welfare standards and recommend improvements for productivity and efficiency.

Required profile

• HND in Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years hands‑on experience managing a commercial pig farm or structured piggery.
• Demonstrated experience in pig production, feeding, breeding, health monitoring and supervising farm workers.
• Experience maintaining farm records and working in a commercial agricultural operation is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of pig farming, nutrition, breeding and animal health.
• Ability to identify health and management issues early.
• Staff supervision and leadership capabilities.
• Good record‑keeping and reporting ability.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
• Effective communication, organization and problem‑solving skills.
