About the role
The Offshore Ship Supervisor acts as the critical link between offshore vessel operations and shore‑side regulatory compliance, ensuring safe and efficient handling of crude oil and product tankers at the terminal and anchorage zones. Based at the GDNL Terminal in Apapa, Lagos, the role oversees vessel arrivals, boarding, discharge processes and coordinates with port authorities and government agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate operational aspects of crude oil and liquid product tanker movements within the terminal and offshore anchorage zones.
- Coordinate with port officials and marine logistics teams to arrange service crafts for safe boarding of government delegation teams.
- Prepare, validate and distribute Notices of Arrival (NOA) and official advices to federal port agencies.
- Draft, compile and finalize the Statement of Facts (SOF) at the Dangote Single Point Mooring for discharging crude oil tankers.
- Monitor, calculate and collate daily discharge tonnages and cargo transfer figures, ensuring accuracy against manifest data.
- Provide real‑time offshore operational updates, delays and vessel clearance statuses to the Lagos corporate office.
- Maintain professional relations with internal logistics teams, ship captains, port authorities and external maritime partners.
Required profile
- Practical knowledge of shipping operations, vessel boarding workflows and clearance documentation with government agencies (NPA, NIMASA, Customs, Immigration).
- Solid understanding of supervisory oversight onboard marine vessels.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis abilities for verifying discharge tonnages and tracking operational timings.
- Excellent logical reasoning, report writing, record‑keeping and independent decision‑making.
- Ability to work safely without close supervision in demanding offshore environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and adherence to corporate policies.
- Proven integrity, positive attitude and exceptional planning and organizational capabilities.
