MICS Data Analyst – Child Well‑being & Urban Inequality (Consultancy)

About the role
The consultant will lead two thematic analyses of Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) data for Nigeria, focusing on longitudinal trends in child well‑being and urban inequality. The work will support evidence‑based policy recommendations and capacity building for partners.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive longitudinal and trend analysis of MICS3‑MICS7 datasets, emphasizing child survival and learning indicators.
- Develop and validate methodological frameworks in consultation with UNICEF and national stakeholders.
- Design and deliver virtual workshops to build partner capacity in data analysis.
- Produce three reporting products for each thematic study: a PowerPoint summary, a technical report, and a brief summary.
- Carry out an urban inequality analysis across selected Nigerian urban areas, highlighting socio‑economic and geographic disparities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Demography, Statistics, Public Health, Data Science or related field (PhD acceptable).
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience with large‑scale survey data (or 5 years with a PhD).
- Fluency in English.
- Prior experience with UNICEF, UN agencies or similar organizations is an asset.
Required skills
- Expertise in MICS/DHS dataset analysis.
- Strong background in regression modelling.
- Geospatial analysis capabilities.
- Computation of SDG indicators.
- High‑quality statistical report writing.
