MICS Data Analyst – Child Well‑being & Urban Inequality (Consultancy)

About the role

The consultant will lead two thematic analyses of Nigeria’s Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) data: a longitudinal and trend analysis of child well‑being and an urban inequality analysis across selected cities. The work supports evidence‑based policy development for UNICEF and national partners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive longitudinal analysis of MICS3‑MICS7 datasets focusing on child survival, 1,000‑day indicators and learning outcomes.
• Design and validate methodology and conceptual frameworks for both analyses in consultation with UNICEF and government stakeholders.
• Deliver virtual capacity‑building workshops for partners on methodology, draft findings and final validation.
• Produce three reporting products for each thematic study: a summary PowerPoint, a technical report and a brief.

Required profile

• MA (or PhD) in Demography, Statistics, Public Health, Data Science or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years (MA) or 5 years (PhD) progressive experience in survey data analysis, preferably with MICS or DHS datasets.
• Fluent English.

Required skills

• Expertise in analysis of large MICS/DHS datasets.
• Strong background in regression modelling, geospatial analysis and SDG indicator computation.
• Proven ability to produce high‑quality analytical reports based on statistical analysis.
