MEP Design Engineer

About the role

The MEP Design Engineer will be a hands‑on design professional responsible for the full design lifecycle of mechanical and plumbing systems for Alaro City projects. You will create concept designs, perform load calculations, develop detailed Revit models, and produce construction‑ready drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design calculations including HVAC heating/cooling load estimation, psychrometric analysis, duct and pipe sizing, pump head and ventilation rate calculations.
• Design and draft HVAC layouts (chilled water, VRF/VRV, split and packaged systems), ductwork routes, plant room arrangements, equipment schedules and mechanical schematics.
• Design fire protection systems (wet/dry sprinkler networks, hydrants, gaseous suppression) and coordinate fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards.
• Design domestic cold and hot water plumbing systems, including booster pump sizing and hot water generation strategies.
• Select equipment, prepare equipment schedules and technical data sheets, ensuring compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, CIBSE and the Nigerian Building Code.
• Coordinate designs with architects and structural engineers, review against codes and standards, and conduct site visits to verify installation matches design intent.

Required profile

• Hands‑on design professional with experience in mechanical and plumbing system design.
