Medical Records Manager

About the role

The Medical Records Manager will oversee the management, organization, and security of patient medical records within the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja. The role ensures accurate, compliant record‑keeping and leads the implementation and optimisation of the electronic health records (EHR) system to support high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee storage, retrieval and retention of both paper and electronic patient records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and NDPR regulations.
• Manage the operation of the EHR system, guaranteeing correct data entry, secure storage and accessibility for authorised staff.
• Conduct regular audits and quality‑control checks, preparing reports for internal and external inspections.
• Supervise, train and evaluate the medical records team, maintaining adequate staffing and performance standards.
• Coordinate with IT to troubleshoot system issues, implement upgrades and maintain data‑backup procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field; professional certification (CHIM or CMRP) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience in medical records management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience with EHR systems, data management and regulatory compliance (NDPR).
