Medical Assistant – Migration Health Assessment Centre

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Lagos, Nigeria. Working under the Migration Health Officer and the Senior Medical Assistant, you will assist migrants with health‑assessment information, registration, and follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Provide migrants with information on health assessments via phone, email and in‑person, and schedule appointments in the IOM database.
• Enter applicant biodata, capture photographs, print and manage consent and medical forms, and handle incoming medical documents.
• Prepare and transmit master lists, daily statistics, and medical files to service providers, panel physicians and partners.
• Support the call centre by responding to inquiries, confirming appointments and contributing to customer‑satisfaction monitoring.

Required profile

• University degree in IT, statistics, social sciences, business administration or related field with at least two years relevant experience, OR secondary school diploma with at least four years relevant experience.
• Experience in computer data entry, call‑centre operations or medical‑related administrative work; knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage.
• Fluency in English (official IOM language) and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• High computer literacy in Windows operating system.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint.
• Fast and accurate typing (minimum 60 wpm) and data‑entry competence.
• Basic knowledge of data analysis and web‑page design is a plus.
