Legal Associate – West Africa

About the role

Africa Metals & Minerals (AMMC) is seeking a Legal Associate to provide legal and regulatory support for its business activities across West Africa. The role involves advising on corporate, commercial, mining and investment matters and supporting cross‑border transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory support for AMMC’s business activities, partnerships and commercial transactions across West Africa.
• Research and advise on corporate, commercial, mining, minerals, trade, investment and regulatory frameworks in relevant jurisdictions.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, supplier and buyer agreements, partnership arrangements and memoranda of understanding.
• Support legal due diligence, transaction structuring, risk assessments and documentation for cross‑border business opportunities.
• Assist with company registration, licensing, regulatory filings, corporate governance and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with external legal advisers and local professionals, and contribute to the development of internal legal processes and policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a current licence or formal admission to practise law in at least one West African country.
• Membership in good standing with the relevant bar association or legal regulatory body.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment in the licensed jurisdiction.
• Strong understanding of corporate and commercial law, contract drafting, regulatory compliance and business operations.
• Excellent legal research, drafting, negotiation and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
