Lecturer II – Petroleum & Gas Engineering

About the role

The University is seeking a Lecturer II to join the Petroleum & Gas Engineering department in Abuja. Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate will deliver high‑quality teaching, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in research activities that align with the faculty’s standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops and seminars for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
• Develop and update curricula and teaching materials across multiple platforms.
• Design, set and grade assignments, tests and examinations.
• Conduct scholarly research, write papers, proposals, journal articles and books.
• Participate in departmental meetings, conferences and academic events.
• Provide academic support and mentorship to students and junior staff.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Petroleum & Gas Engineering or a related field, or a Master’s degree with at least three years of relevant teaching, research and administrative experience.
• Minimum of two peer‑reviewed journal publications.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication abilities.
• Affiliation with a recognised professional engineering body.
• Excellent time‑management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using video‑conferencing tools, particularly Microsoft Teams.
