Junior Legal Associate

About the role

YBA Solicitors is seeking a motivated Junior Legal Associate to support its corporate, property and litigation teams in Lagos. You will work closely with senior associates, providing research, drafting and filing assistance across a range of legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on corporate law, property law, litigation and compliance topics.
• Prepare first drafts of contracts, tenancy agreements, NDAs, memoranda, legal notices and board resolutions.
• Submit filings and correspondence to courts, regulatory bodies, land registries and the Corporate Affairs Commission, tracking deadlines and acknowledgements.
• Follow up with external counsel on briefs, filings and invoices, and maintain accurate records.
• Support due‑diligence, title verification and documentation for real‑estate transactions.
• Assist in preparing court processes, affidavits, briefs and case summaries for litigation and arbitration.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of relevant legal experience (mid‑level qualification).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple filing deadlines.
• Excellent written communication skills for drafting and proofreading legal documents.
• Proactive attitude in liaising with external counsel and regulatory agencies.

Required skills

• Legal research and analysis.

• Record‑keeping of submissions, acknowledgements and counsel communications.
