Jobs Application & Research Specialist

About the role

The Jobs Application and Research Specialist is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Lagos, Nigeria. The role focuses on identifying and researching local and international job, internship and scholarship opportunities that match the profiles of SALBA’s learners and alumni. The specialist also guides participants through application processes, helping them craft tailored resumes, cover letters and professional profiles, and provides interview preparation and career coaching.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and research job, internship and scholarship opportunities aligned with SALBA programs and participant profiles.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date database of opportunities and track application outcomes.
• Generate reports and insights to improve placement strategies.
• Support learners and alumni by preparing customized resumes, cover letters and professional profiles.
• Provide interview preparation, career coaching and consultation services.
• Collaborate with trainers, mentors and partner organisations to strengthen employability pathways.
• Communicate timely information about opportunities through workshops, information sessions and other SALBA channels.

Required profile

• Strong research and analytical abilities to source and evaluate opportunities from multiple platforms.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for crafting application documents.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coaching and consultations.
• Basic digital literacy and familiarity with online job boards, professional networking platforms, productivity tools and data‑tracking systems.
• Strong organizational and time‑management capabilities with attention to detail.
• Relevant experience in career services, recruitment, HR, talent placement or educational support.
• A bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business, Human Resources, Education or a related field (preferred).
