Java Software Engineer

About the role

Crown Interactive is seeking an experienced Java Software Engineer to join its engineering team in Lagos. You will be responsible for building robust, scalable backend services that power the company’s digital infrastructure solutions for government and critical sectors across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Java 8+, Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Design, implement and consume RESTful APIs.
• Write clean, maintainable code and perform unit and integration testing with JUnit and Mockito.
• Optimize database interactions using JPA/Hibernate and MySQL.
• Debug and resolve application defects and support production issues.
• Collaborate with DevOps, QA and frontend teams to deliver end‑to‑end features.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional Java backend development experience.
• Experience in energy, power or utilities software projects is a plus.

Required skills

• Java (8+), Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA.
• REST API design and implementation.
• MySQL or similar relational databases.
• Maven or Gradle build tools.
• Docker containerisation.
• JUnit, Mockito for testing.
• Understanding of JWT, authentication and authorization.
• Linux‑based deployment environments.
