Hotel Cook

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join the kitchen team at Protea Hotel Benin City Select. In this full‑time role you will prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes while maintaining the high standards of quality and hygiene expected in a Marriott‑affiliated hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring and mixing.
• Cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and complete food preparation checklists.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test foods for doneness, monitor food quality, and ensure correct portioning.
• Set up and break down work stations, clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment.
• Check and maintain proper temperature of appliances and food.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Preparing and cooking food according to recipes and quality standards.
• Accurate weighing, measuring and mixing of ingredients.
• Maintaining kitchen hygiene and adhering to food safety procedures.
