Hospital Porter – Patient & Equipment Transport

About the role

The Porter will ensure safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, supplies and specimens throughout the African Medical Centre of Excellence, contributing to smooth clinical operations and a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Safely transport patients to and from various departments using wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, ensuring comfort, proper identification and infection‑control compliance.
• Move medical equipment, supplies and laboratory specimens across the facility, following handling, labeling and bio‑hazard protocols.
• Assist with setting up furniture for meetings, deliver mail and packages, maintain cleanliness of transport equipment and report any safety or maintenance issues.

Required profile

• HND/BSc in Health Care Administration or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in a medical or healthcare environment.
• Basic Life Support training and ability to respond to medical emergencies.
• Professional attitude, proactive, honest and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Operation of wheelchairs, stretchers and other transport equipment.
• Knowledge of proper lifting techniques and basic medical terminology.
• Basic computer skills for using communication devices.
