Health Specialist – Social & Behavioral Change for Polio (P-4)

About the role

The Health Specialist will design, manage, implement, monitor and evaluate social and behavioural change and social‑mobilisation interventions that support Nigeria’s polio eradication plan. The position focuses on interrupting poliovirus transmission, generating demand for vaccination and addressing behavioural barriers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement evidence‑based SBC interventions to interrupt poliovirus transmission.
• Generate demand for polio vaccination and routine immunisation, addressing vaccine hesitancy and missed children.
• Support vaccination campaigns and sustain community engagement between rounds.
• Provide technical assistance during polio outbreak responses.
• Contribute to other health interventions as required.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Social and Behavioural Change Communication, Public Health, Health Promotion, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology or related field.
• At least eight years of progressively responsible experience designing and managing SBC or social communication programmes, with relevant immunisation or polio programming experience.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is desirable.
