Health Officer (Polio) – Kano, Nigeria

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Health Officer (Polio) to provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the health programme cycle in Kano, Nigeria. The role supports planning, implementation and monitoring of health interventions, with a focus on polio eradication and maternal‑child health.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development and planning.
• Manage programme delivery, monitoring and results reporting.
• Provide technical and operational support for health programme implementation.
• Build and maintain partnerships and networks.
• Drive innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• University degree in public health, nutrition, pediatric health, global health or related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in public health/nutrition planning, maternal‑neonatal health care or health emergency preparedness.
• Fluency in English.
• Knowledge of another UN language or a local language is desirable.
• Relevant experience in a UN system agency is an advantage.

Required skills

• Health and immunisation programme management.
• Result‑based planning for immunisation strengthening and zero‑dose reduction.
• Planning and operationalisation of polio eradication programmes.
