Health Insurance Contract & Claims Manager

About the role

The Health Insurance Contract & Claims Manager will lead the administration of insurance contracts and the full claims lifecycle for the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely, fair settlements.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret insurance policies to determine coverage, exclusions and apply provisions to claims.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end claims process, from notification through investigation to settlement.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants or their representatives and manage claim payments.
• Identify, investigate and mitigate potential fraud or abuse in claims.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, reporting and solvency regulations.
• Manage reinsurance programmes, including treaty negotiations and recoveries.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement risk‑management strategies.
• Review, negotiate and draft insurance contracts, endorsements and reinsurance treaties.
• Maintain vendor and supplier relationships and monitor contract performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in insurance contract management, claims handling and risk management.
• Chartered Insurance Institute qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business administration, finance or risk management; MBA preferred.
• Proven experience leading teams and managing complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and the healthcare sector.
