Health Insurance Contract and Claims Manager

About the role

The Health Insurance Contract and Claims Manager will lead the administration of insurance contracts and the full claims lifecycle for a multi‑specialty medical centre in Abuja. The role ensures regulatory compliance, mitigates risk, and provides expert guidance on insurance matters within the healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret insurance policies to determine coverage, exclusions and limitations and apply them to specific claims.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end claims process, from initial notification through investigation to final settlement.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants or their representatives and manage related documentation and payments.
• Identify and mitigate potential fraud and abuse in claims.
• Monitor compliance with insurance regulations and manage reinsurance programmes, including treaty negotiations and recoveries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business administration, finance, risk management or a related field; Chartered Insurance Institute qualification or MBA is a plus.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in insurance contract management, claims handling and risk management, preferably within the healthcare sector.
• Proven experience leading teams and managing complex projects.
