Head of School – British-Nigerian School

About the role

The Head of School will turn the Board’s strategic vision into day‑to‑day reality, champion academic excellence, and act as the primary ambassador of the British‑Nigerian School to parents, regulators and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the Board’s strategic vision into measurable school‑wide development plans and report regularly on academic, financial and operational performance.
• Maintain compliance with the Federal and Lagos State Ministries of Education and oversee international accreditations such as COBIS and BSO.
• Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of the British curriculum from EYFS through KS4 (IGCSE) and OSSD, managing relationships with Cambridge Assessment, Edexcel/Pearson and other examination boards.
• Integrate educational technology, modern pedagogy and high‑quality learning resources across all year groups.
• Oversee co‑curricular, sporting, pastoral and house systems to support holistic student development.
• Recruit, onboard, develop and retain high‑calibre academic and administrative staff, implementing a robust CPD framework and performance appraisal process.
• Partner with the Business Manager/Bursar to draft, manage and optimise the annual operating budget, supervise fee collection and drive cost‑control measures.
• Drive enrolment and retention strategies, acting as the principal brand ambassador to enhance the school’s public profile.

Required profile

• Proven ability to translate a Board’s strategic vision into operational outcomes.
• Experience liaising with governing bodies and regulatory authorities.
• Strong understanding of British and international curricula and associated examination boards.
• Leadership experience in recruiting, developing and managing academic and administrative teams.
• Capability to oversee financial planning, budgeting and resource optimisation.
• Demonstrated skill in driving enrolment, marketing and community engagement.
