Head of Information Technology (IT)

About the role

A client, a reputable financial institution, is looking for an experienced Head of Information Technology to lead its technology function. The role covers the bank's IT infrastructure, core banking application, information security, cybersecurity, digital banking channels, systems availability and technology operations, keeping the environment secure, resilient, scalable and compliant with CBN, NDPA and other regulatory requirements. It reports to the Managing Director / Executive Management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the bank's IT strategy, set IT policies and standards, and lead digital transformation and technology advisory work.
• Manage the BankOne Core Banking Application, including performance, security, upgrades, patches, integrations and change management.
• Oversee IT infrastructure (networks, servers, databases, endpoints) and ensure high availability, reliability and performance.
• Build and run information security and cybersecurity frameworks, including access controls, incident response, vulnerability assessments and security awareness.
• Maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans, backups and recovery mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with CBN guidelines, the NDPA and regulatory audits, and prepare IT risk, performance and compliance reports.
• Manage IT vendors and service providers, monitor SLAs and coordinate escalations.
• Oversee digital banking platforms, recommend new technologies and lead technology integration projects.
• Set up IT governance, controls, budget monitoring and asset documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 5-8 years of relevant IT experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a microfinance bank, commercial bank, fintech or other regulated financial institution.
• Demonstrated experience managing IT operations in a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong practical experience with the BankOne Core Banking Application is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in IT infrastructure, network and server administration, database administration, cybersecurity and digital banking platforms.
