About the role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of Finance to lead the financial strategy, planning, and operations of a premium hospitality organization in Abuja. The role will build and manage a robust finance function, ensure sound governance, regulatory compliance, and support sustainable business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy in line with business objectives.
- Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and long‑term modelling activities.
- Prepare annual budgets, rolling forecasts and performance reports for executive management.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, working capital and treasury operations.
- Oversee capital expenditure planning, procurement payments, vendor management and investment monitoring.
- Develop financial models for revenue forecasting, pricing, profitability analysis and expansion.
- Establish and maintain internal controls, financial policies and governance frameworks.
- Supervise accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets and general ledger.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate statutory audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants and regulators.
- Guarantee compliance with Nigerian regulations such as FIRS, PAYE, Pension, NSITF, NHF and CAC.
- Oversee membership billing, collections, revenue assurance and financial reconciliations.
- Monitor business performance through KPI reporting and variance analysis.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and financial implications of strategic initiatives.
- Advise senior management on pricing, profitability, cost optimisation and capital allocation.
- Develop policies, SOPs and reporting frameworks to improve efficiency.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
- Manage relationships with banks, investors and key external stakeholders.
- Support contract negotiations and procurement decisions from a financial perspective.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all financial information.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (ICAN, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience with at least 2 years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Experience in hospitality, healthcare, real estate, private clubs or luxury services is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws and corporate finance.
- Proven track record in cash‑flow, treasury and capital‑expenditure management.
- Experience overseeing procurement finance, contract management and foreign‑exchange transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to establish financial systems, controls and reporting structures.
- Advanced financial modelling, forecasting and business analysis skills.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle or Zoho Books.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.
- Residency in Abuja or willingness to relocate.
