General Manager

About the role

The General Manager will lead all operational, commercial and financial activities of Maximedge’s retail pharmacy network and its warehouse facilities in Port Harcourt and the wider Rivers State. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures seamless coordination between procurement, logistics, sales and customer service to drive growth and service excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day administration and operations across all pharmacy outlets and storage sites, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
• Manage inventory control, stock‑taking, reconciliation and replenishment to minimise stock‑outs, expiries and losses.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, training and performance management of pharmacists, technicians, sales staff and administrative personnel.
• Analyse sales trends, customer behaviour and market opportunities to develop strategies that increase revenue, profitability and market share.
• Coordinate marketing, promotional and community outreach initiatives to support business development and expansion plans.
• Monitor financial performance, prepare budgets and ensure cost‑effective operation of the pharmacy network.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 36 months of experience in operational leadership within a retail pharmacy or similar environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage supply‑chain, inventory and multi‑site staff effectively.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in sales analysis and commercial strategy development.
• Excellent communication and team‑building skills to drive performance and customer service excellence.
