Full-time Optometrist – Comprehensive Eye Care

About the role

Balija Eye Care is seeking a full-time Optometrist to join its Lekki clinic. The professional will deliver comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose refractive errors and manage ocular health for patients of all ages, while providing personalized vision solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations and assess binocular vision and ocular health.
• Diagnose refractive errors and prescribe appropriate eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Fit and dispense prescription glasses and contact lenses, offering guidance on lens care.
• Provide non-surgical management for common eye conditions such as glaucoma, conjunctivitis, digital eye strain and other ocular diseases.
• Document clinical findings accurately and maintain patient records.
• Collaborate with other eye-care professionals when needed.
• Educate patients on preventive eye health and long-term vision care.
• Support clinic workflow, maintain equipment standards and ensure high-quality patient-centered service.

Required profile

• Licensed Optometrist with a recognized degree and current registration in Nigeria.
• Strong clinical skills in comprehensive examinations, refraction, binocular vision assessment and basic ocular health evaluation.
• Experience prescribing and fitting glasses and contact lenses, including patient counseling.
• Ability to manage and co-manage common eye conditions such as glaucoma, conjunctivitis and digital eye strain.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.
• Comfortable working in a busy clinical setting with good time-management and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with practice management workflows and electronic record systems; willingness to learn new tools.
• Previous experience in a community or private eye-care clinic is an advantage; pediatric and digital eye‑strain experience is a plus.
