Founding Data Protection Officer (DPO)

About the role

Asiri is building an NDPA‑native compliance operating system for African businesses. The company seeks a founding Data Protection Officer to lead its compliance function, shape the product, and act as a trusted market voice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Asiri’s data‑protection practice and champion best‑practice compliance across the platform.
• Guide organisations through ROPA, DSRs, DPIAs, cross‑border transfers, and Compliance Audit Return filing, creating a repeatable delivery playbook.
• Partner with licensed DPCOs to deliver audit and filing outcomes for clients.
• Serve as the compliance authority: pressure‑test Airi, translate NDPA 2023 / GAID 2025 into product decisions, and set accuracy standards.
• Represent Asiri with DPCOs, DPOs, and enterprise buyers as a trusted expert.
• Uphold the standard of readiness over certification, naming deliverables and empowering DPCOs.

Required profile

• Deep fluency in NDPA 2023 and GAID 2025, with hands‑on experience in ROPA, DSRs, DPIAs, cross‑border transfers, and Compliance Audit Returns.
• Experience as a DPO or within a DPCO/data‑protection consultancy.
• Licensed DPCO or active affiliation with one (strongly preferred).
• Legal or privacy foundation (e.g., LL.B) and relevant certifications such as CDPO, DCP, CIPP/E.
• Startup‑comfortable: self‑directed, execution‑first, and honest.
