Financial Controller – Cross‑Border Payments Expertise

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced Financial Controller to lead financial operations within a fast‑growing financial services organisation focused on cross‑border payments. The role combines hands‑on accounting, regulatory compliance and strategic financial analysis to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations and oversee month‑end close processes.
• Reconcile bank and payment accounts, resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Ensure statutory compliance – tax filings, VAT, withholding tax and regulatory submissions.
• Support external audits and coordinate required documentation.
• Monitor daily cash flow, manage treasury activities and oversee accounts payable/receivable.
• Develop financial forecasts, models and reports to aid management decision‑making.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to financial regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 6–8 years progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably within cross‑border payments, fintech or regulated financial institutions.
• Professional qualification – ICAN (ACA) or ACCA.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks or SAP.
• Good understanding of IFRS standards, tax compliance and financial reporting frameworks.
