Finance Specialist

About the role

The Finance Specialist will support an upcoming project by providing guidance, proactive solutions, and specialized insights. Working closely with internal and external experts, the role translates organizational goals into actionable financial plans and ensures effective use of donor resources.

Key responsibilities

• Support finance and accounting activities in line with donor regulations and expectations.
• Develop and refine internal control frameworks, policies, procedures, and quality assurance processes.
• Design and deliver trainings, capacity‑building tools, templates, and documentation for team members and partners.
• Contribute to program reporting, budgeting, monitoring and provide analytical solutions for improvement.
• Review vendor invoices for accuracy, ensure compliance with cost principles, and process payments per TechnoServe policy.
• Lead month‑end closure activities, reconcile project expenses and inflows, and address all financial matters related to the project.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field with at least three years of experience in international development or a comparable sector (or a Master’s degree with one year of relevant experience).
• Understanding of international development ecosystems and donor‑funded project environments.
• Professional certification such as ACA, CNA, ACCA or CPA is an advantage.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in English; willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
