Experienced Marine Engineer – Offshore FPSO Operations

About the role

ExxonMobil is seeking an Experienced Marine Engineer to support deep‑water oil and gas production assets, focusing on flawless cargo operations, hull and topside structures, and mooring systems. The role is based in Lagos with regular travel to offshore FPSO facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support and troubleshooting for offshore FPSO operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient asset performance.
• Monitor integrity of marine safety systems, structures, and offloading terminals through inspection, assessment, and performance evaluation.
• Plan, oversee, and support inspection, condition monitoring, repair design, and execution for hull, mooring, and marine terminal systems.
• Review and assure quality of engineering deliverables, including design calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate technical interfaces between offshore operations, contractors, vendors, and internal engineering teams.
• Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, hazard identification, and implementation of mitigation measures.
• Contribute to capital projects, brownfield modifications, facility upgrades, and life‑extension programs.
• Drive continuous improvement by evaluating innovative technologies, digital monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automation solutions.

Required profile

• University Bachelor of Science / Engineering degree in Marine, Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Civil, Ocean or Petroleum engineering.
• NYSC Completion Certificate.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant oil & gas industry experience, including at least 5 years on FPSOs, FSOs, offshore terminals or floating production assets.
• Strong team player with good communication, coordination, problem‑solving and analytical skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of FPSO operations, offshore loading systems, mooring systems, marine terminals and floating offshore structures.
• Familiarity with Classification Society rules and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Advanced Engineering Assessment, Fluid Solids Technology, Fired Equipment Design & Technology, Non‑Metallics Technology, Refractory & Ceramics Technology.
