ESG Manager – Renewable Energy & Manufacturing

About the role
The ESG Manager will lead the development and execution of Environmental, Social, and Governance strategies for African Industries Group’s renewable energy and manufacturing projects in Nigeria. This senior position blends strategic oversight with hands‑on implementation to embed sustainability across all operations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement ESG policies aligned with IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and UN SDGs.
- Oversee environmental compliance, including EIA/ESIA processes, permitting, and monitoring of emissions, waste, water, and biodiversity impacts.
- Lead stakeholder engagement, community relations, grievance mechanisms, and social risk management.
- Manage land acquisition and resettlement processes where required.
- Integrate HSE systems into ESG frameworks and ensure contractor compliance with safety standards.
- Prepare ESG reports and dashboards for investors, lenders, and executive leadership using GRI, TCFD, and ISSB frameworks.
- Engage with regulators, development finance institutions, and key stakeholders to maintain compliance and transparency.
Required profile
- 8‑10+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, environmental, social, or HSE roles.
- Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and ESG reporting frameworks.
- Experience in renewable energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, or large‑scale project environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or ESG‑related credentials (advantage).
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and translate global standards into practical implementation.
