Engineering Manager – Pharma Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance function of our pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Lagos. The role ensures high equipment uptime, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement to support production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment and utilities.
• Oversee troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and automation issues and manage calibration and validation of critical equipment.
• Manage operation and maintenance of utilities such as HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressed air, water systems and power supply, ensuring they meet pharmaceutical standards.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with NAFDAC requirements and WHO GMP guidelines, support audits and close CAPAs.
• Lead capital projects including installation, commissioning and qualification of new equipment.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, downtime reduction and efficiency improvement.
• Promote a strong HSE culture, conduct risk assessments and enforce safe work practices.
• Lead, coach and develop the engineering team, manage performance, training and workforce planning.
• Develop and control the engineering budget, manage vendor relationships and service contracts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 8–12 years of engineering/maintenance experience in pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing.
• 3–5 years of managerial experience leading engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, validation and regulatory requirements.
• Proven leadership and people‑management abilities.
