About the role
We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide expert legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations. This remote contract position supports a leading entity in the energy sector, helping shape regulatory strategy and ensure compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on compliance with federal and state energy laws, including FERC and state public utility commission regulations.
- Draft, file, and manage regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings.
- Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to identify legal risks and recommend strategic responses.
- Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders to advocate for favorable outcomes.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and brief senior leadership.
Required profile
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction, preferably with energy regulatory experience.
- Proven experience handling energy law matters, including FERC regulations and state utility law.
- Strong analytical and legal writing abilities.
