Driver – Transport Staff for Humanitarian Projects

About the role
Driver needed to transport FHI 360 staff, consultants, equipment and program goods between offices, guest houses, hotels, airports, hospitals and warehouses in Maiduguri, supporting humanitarian operations.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily vehicle checks, report defects, and ensure vehicle cleanliness and maintenance.
- Record all journeys in the logbook, obtain prior authorization, and adhere to speed limits and fleet policy.
- Transport personnel and materials safely, enforce seat‑belt use, and follow security and safeguarding protocols.
- Submit monthly mileage, fuel consumption and maintenance reports, and support logistics/warehouse staff as needed.
Required profile
- SSCE/NECO certificate and a valid national driving licence.
- 1‑4 years experience as a driver with reputable organisations (INGOs, corporate, government); experience as a mechanic or auto‑electrician is desirable.
- Ability to respond to emergency call‑outs, communicate in English, Hausa and Kanuri, and work in insecure locations.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Basic vehicle troubleshooting and minor repair capability.
