Driver – Maiduguri, Borno State

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a dedicated Driver to join its team in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. The role involves safely transporting NRC staff, visitors, documents and equipment to approved destinations while supporting the organization’s humanitarian operations.

Key responsibilities

• Transport staff, visitors, documents and goods to designated locations in accordance with NRC approvals.
• Ensure the safety and security of passengers, cargo and the vehicle at all times.
• Report accidents, breakdowns, and maintenance needs immediately.
• Comply with Nigerian traffic laws, NRC logistical policies and vehicle regulations.
• Maintain a detailed logbook for all trips.
• Keep the vehicle clean, fueled and in good technical condition; arrange repairs and servicing as needed.
• Ensure the vehicle has all required documents and equipment.
• Provide logistical support during trainings, workshops and other NRC activities.

Required profile

• Passion for assisting refugees and displaced persons.
• Enthusiastic and reliable attitude.
• Commitment to safe, defensive driving and strict adherence to traffic regulations.
• Ability to complete incident reports and follow NRC safety procedures.
• Responsibility for daily vehicle checks and maintenance.

Required skills

• Valid Nigerian driver’s licence.
• Proficiency in vehicle operation and basic maintenance.
