Director of Investment (Mining Desk)

About the role

Brendan Nicholas Holdings is seeking a Director of Investment for its Mining Desk in Abuja. The position focuses on governance and investment oversight rather than day‑to‑day operations, with responsibility for assessing opportunities, building boards and executive teams, and setting the conditions for capital deployment. The role also drives the creation of new mining companies while existing ones progress.

Key responsibilities

• Activate and govern the desk by constituting companies, appointing boards and executives, and maintaining governance standards.
• Capitalise the primary vehicle according to an approved plan and manage it through its first year of operation.
• Originate the next company for the desk’s pipeline.
• Build institutional relationships in the mining sector to source opportunities, access capital, and establish credibility.
• Meet annually set targets established by the institution.

Required profile

• Direct ownership experience of an asset or company from origination through operation.
• Decision‑making authority over capital allocations.
• Proven experience appointing and removing senior executives.
• Experience operating within a governance framework and its constraints.
• Established personal relationships within the mining sector.
