Digital Journalist – Hausa (Full‑Time)

About the role

The BBC Hausa service is expanding its digital footprint and needs a skilled journalist to create and manage content across its website and social platforms. You will work in Abuja, producing news stories, videos and social media posts that reach Hausa‑speaking audiences across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Create and publish accurate, SEO‑friendly news articles for the BBC Hausa website.
• Produce, shoot and edit short‑form video content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
• Develop engaging social‑media posts that drive audience interaction and expand reach.
• Respond quickly to breaking news, maintaining a steady flow of content across all channels.
• Use audience analytics and performance data to refine content strategy.
• Present on‑air and on‑screen for visualised radio programmes and repurpose live interviews into digital clips.

Required profile

• Proven experience creating content for digital, social, radio and video platforms.
• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills in Hausa, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Fluent in both Hausa and English and knowledgeable about Nigeria’s political and cultural landscape.
