Designer Volunteer

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop professional PCB schematics and layouts, translating electrical requirements into accurate, functional, and manufacturable circuit boards.
• Create and manage accurate component libraries, footprints, symbols, and 3D PCB models, ensuring every component is correctly represented and properly fits the physical board.
• Handle component placement, routing, layer stack-up, power and signal routing, clearances, and design constraints, while considering electrical performance, thermal requirements, and mechanical limitations.
• Perform thorough Design Rule Checks (DRC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and design reviews to identify errors before fabrication and reduce costly PCB revisions and failed prototypes.
• Prepare complete manufacturing documentation and production files, including Gerber/ODB++ files, drill files, BOMs, assembly drawings, and other documentation required to fabricate and assemble the PCB.
• Support PCB prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and design iterations, working with the engineering team to identify issues in physical boards and refine the design until it meets the required specifications.
