Customs & Shipping Documentation Officer

About the role

The Customs & Shipping Documentation Officer will manage all paperwork required for import and export clearance, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely processing of shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and organize complete clearance documents such as Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Single Goods Declarations and Assessment Notices.
• Initiate, track and manage Form M applications and Pre‑Arrival Assessment Reports (PAAR) through authorized dealer banks and the Nigeria Single Window portal.
• Verify and coordinate regulatory permits and certificates, including SONCAP, NAFDAC approvals and Customs Identification Numbers (TIN).
• Classify imported and exported goods under the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes to ensure accurate duty assessment.
• Enter trade data accurately into shipping and customs systems to avoid clearance delays or penalties.
• Liaise with customs brokers, shipping lines, terminal operators and government agencies to resolve documentation discrepancies.

Required profile

• Minimum HND in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in shipping and customs documentation within a freight forwarding, logistics or import/export company in Nigeria.
