Credit Recovery Officer

About the role

The Credit Recovery Officer will manage overdue loan accounts, engage directly with customers, and work closely with internal teams to recover outstanding balances while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage delinquent loan portfolios across assigned customers.
• Contact customers via phone, email, and field visits to follow up on repayments.
• Negotiate repayment plans, settlements, and restructuring arrangements.
• Conduct field collections and other recovery activities as required.
• Track commitments and ensure agreed repayment plans are adhered to.
• Escalate high‑risk accounts to Credit, Sales, Finance, and Legal teams.
• Prepare regular recovery reports and update portfolio performance.
• Collaborate with Legal on litigation or repossession actions when necessary.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Completed NYSC.
• 2–5 years of experience in credit recovery, debt collection, or loan recovery within financial services.
• Proven ability to manage delinquent accounts and develop repayment plans.
• Strong negotiation, communication and analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of debt recovery regulations and compliance requirements.
