Country Director – Nigeria

About the role

Digital Green is looking for a senior leader to serve as Country Director for Nigeria. The role will define the organization’s strategy, build a high‑performing local team, and adapt the AI‑driven FarmerChat platform to the Nigerian context. Reporting to the CEO, the Director will act as the primary representative with government, donors, and private‑sector partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead partnerships and ecosystem engagement with federal and state ministries, agribusinesses, telcos and other stakeholders to scale FarmerChat.
• Oversee program and product adaptation, ensuring FarmerChat is localized in language, content and AI behavior for Nigerian smallholders.
• Drive business development and country strategy, identifying multi‑year funding opportunities and leading donor proposals.
• Recruit, develop and lead a small, high‑performing Nigeria team, fostering a culture aligned with Digital Green’s values.
• Manage country setup, compliance and operations, including regulatory registration, budgeting and financial integrity.

Required profile

• 12+ years experience in international development, agriculture or technology‑for‑development, with at least 5 years in senior country or regional leadership.
• Strong, current networks with Nigerian government, donors, agribusiness and development partners, and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Proven track record of building and leading lean high‑performing teams and managing multi‑million‑dollar program portfolios.
• Demonstrated experience with technology‑enabled agriculture, digital advisory or data‑driven farmer engagement, comfortable discussing product, data and AI choices.
• Deep knowledge of Nigerian agriculture and rural livelihoods, with a clear view of what works for smallholder farmers.
