Consultant Radiologist

About the role

The Consultant Radiologist will provide expert radiological interpretation and patient‑centered care at the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja. The role involves diagnosing conditions, guiding treatment decisions and contributing to research and education.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret imaging studies (X‑ray, CT, MRI, PET/CT, ultrasound) to diagnose medical conditions.
• Compare current images with prior studies to monitor disease progression and treatment response.
• Prepare and dictate detailed diagnostic reports for healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop treatment strategies and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Guide interventional procedures using imaging technologies and advise on imaging protocols.
• Conduct clinical trials, publish research, and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MBChB) and completed residency program.
• Pass in the Primary Fellowship Examination of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (or equivalent) within the past 7 years.
• Valid medical license and membership in relevant radiology associations.
• Minimum 5 years post‑specialty training experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior medical staff is preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced imaging techniques: CT, MRI, PET/CT, ultrasound.
• Interventional radiology procedures: biopsies, drainages, vascular interventions.
• Proficiency in interpreting cross‑sectional anatomy and radiation physics.
• Strong written and spoken English for clear communication.
• Research methodology and ability to publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
