Chief Compliance & Risk Officer

About the role

The Chief Compliance & Risk Officer is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Lagos, responsible for overseeing Ash Nelson's enterprise‑wide risk management and compliance frameworks across its technology and cybersecurity operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures addressing market, operational, and regulatory risk.
• Conduct risk assessments, monitor risk indicators, and provide regular reports and recommendations to senior leadership and the board.
• Lead compliance audits and ensure adherence to local and international regulations.
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to evaluate risk exposures.
• Design and deliver training programs to strengthen risk awareness throughout the organization.
• Monitor regulatory changes, engage with external regulators and partners, and support strategic decision‑making through data‑driven analysis.

Required profile

• Strong enterprise risk management and market risk expertise.
• Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance in finance, technology, and cybersecurity.
• Advanced analytical and finance skills to assess risk exposures.
• Proven leadership experience in risk, compliance, or audit within technology, financial services, or cybersecurity‑focused organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Business, Risk Management or a related field; professional certifications (CFA, FRM, CRISC, CISA) are advantageous.
• Excellent communication, ethical judgment, and attention to detail.
• Experience working within the Nigerian regulatory landscape or similar emerging markets is a plus.
