Checkpoint Officer – Cement Truck Logistics

About the role

The Checkpoint Officer oversees the movement of cement trucks at designated checkpoints, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and smooth logistics flow. This role is pivotal for maintaining efficient cement delivery operations and minimizing site congestion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage entry and exit of cement trucks, enforcing security protocols.
• Verify documentation such as waybills and driver IDs.
• Maintain accurate logs of arrivals, departures, timestamps, and truck details.
• Ensure trucks meet safety standards before authorising movement.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance or safety issues.
• Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to relay updates and resolve incidents.
• Report violations, accidents, or emergencies promptly.
• Support continuous improvement of emergency response and checkpoint procedures.
• Train and onboard new checkpoint personnel on established protocols.
• Analyse movement data to identify trends and recommend operational enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Transport Management, Logistics, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics management.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Excellent geographical knowledge and people‑management skills.
• Good negotiation and communication capabilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel.
• Experience using project management applications.
• Familiarity with system‑based inventory management systems.
• Ability to work with basic IT packages and electronic communication tools.
