CAD Engineer Intern – Design Doors, Gates & Smart Furniture

About the role

ZICS, a leading Nigerian manufacturer of premium doors, gates and custom‑built furniture, is expanding its smart‑technology product line. We are looking for a motivated CAD Engineer Intern to create detailed 2D and 3D models that translate customer and architectural requirements into manufacturable products.

Key responsibilities

• Create precise 2D and 3D CAD designs for doors, gates, furniture and smart‑technology components.
• Collaborate with carpenters, welders and the design team to ensure designs are practical and ready for production.
• Translate customer needs and architectural drawings into technical documentation.
• Maintain and organise CAD libraries and design files.
• Optimize existing designs for performance, aesthetics and cost‑effectiveness.
• Prepare CNC machine files and ensure design compatibility.
• Integrate IoT and smart‑system elements into product designs where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and fabrication methods.
• Capability to interpret architectural drawings and convert them into 3D models.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp or Fusion 360.
• Experience preparing files for CNC machining.
