Biomedical Technician – Medical Equipment Specialist

About the role

The Biomedical Technician will ensure optimal performance, safety and regulatory compliance of all medical equipment at the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja. The role involves installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing a wide range of devices used in cardiovascular, oncology, haematology and diagnostic services.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate installation sites, install and configure medical devices such as imaging machines, patient monitors, infusion pumps and surgical equipment.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules, conduct troubleshooting and carry out repairs or component replacements.
• Perform functional testing, calibration and documentation to meet clinical and regulatory standards.
• Provide technical support and training to clinical staff during equipment use and respond to urgent repair requests.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, IEC and other safety regulations through regular inspections and audits.

Required profile

• HND/Diploma in Biomedical Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in installation, maintenance and repair of medical equipment, preferably in a cardiovascular, oncology or diagnostic setting.
• Professional attitude, proactive organization and ability to inspire confidence among staff.
