Billing Officer – Healthcare

About the role

The Billing Officer will manage the hospital’s billing procedures, covering patient accounts, insurance claims and regulatory compliance. The role ensures timely, accurate invoicing and strives for 100 % revenue accuracy for the Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and review invoices for accuracy, completeness and compliance with service agreements.
• Verify billing data against service records, resolve discrepancies and process adjustments, credits or refunds.
• Monitor and track payments, reconcile received amounts with billing records and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Ensure billing processes comply with organizational policies, government regulations and healthcare standards.
• Act as primary contact for billing inquiries, provide explanations of charges and resolve disputes professionally.
• Analyze current billing processes, implement technology solutions and develop standard operating procedures.
• Prepare regular reports on billing performance, maintain organized transaction records and support financial statement preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (MBA/MSc advantageous).
• Relevant accounting certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) is a plus.
• 1–4 years of billing experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, with familiarity of medical billing codes and insurance processes.
• Experience with billing software and ERP systems, and knowledge of revenue cycle management.

Required skills

• Proficiency with billing software and ERP systems.

• Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
